TWO AND A HALF DAYS ON THE PARK
This is taking football to the limit! Amateur teams Leeds
Badgers and Warwickshire Wolves (picture) set out just before midday on
Friday to play continuously for FIFTY-SEVEN HOURS. They're
aiming for a world record, but there's a serious purpose to the
soccathon - they want to draw attention to the deadly disease
meningitis, which can especially hit children and young people.
The money they raise will be in memory of the Badgers' Jamie
Burdett, who died of the disease. The bid has won the backing
of football royalty - former Wales and Liverpool forward Ian
Rush is with them all the way. Ian had meningitis when he was
young, and spent six weeks in a special oxygen tent before he
was out of danger. He's urging donors to "dig deep" in their
pockets to support the teams, who'll only have five minutes
off in each hour.

Hope they don't have to play any injury time!!
