SIX lucky children have been chosen to have the special task of welcoming guests to the new Legoland Hotel.

The three boys and three girls aged between nine and 11 beat 600 other youngsters who entered a competition to become the world’s first junior concierges at the Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel when it opens in March.

Wearing uniforms of bright red jackets, white trousers, peaked hats and Lego name badges, the new Legoland recruits will work for a couple of hours on one day during the school holidays.

As training for the important job has already started, the youngsters are some of the very first people to see the new hotel with its smoke-breathing Lego dragon guarding the entrance. Other facilities include themed bedrooms and a pirate-themed swimming pool.

Hotel director Stephen Cotton said the concierges will provide vital feedback as to how impressive the hotel is. “It is all about seeing the hotel and the park through the eyes of a child and what better way to do it than through junior concierges,” he explained.

A staggering 80million bricks have been used by 45 model makers to create the 1,600 Lego models which are scattered around the hotel. The reception area includes an exploding Lego toy box and a wall of 6,000 tiny Lego figures.

Training for the concierges has included manners, appearance and health and safety. They will also be expected to give handy tips to visitors to the theme park, including where to buy the best ice cream and find the best rides.

Each child will be ‘paid’ for their hard work with a free weekend stay at the hotel

WOW! Working at Legoland would be a dream job for so many children - and a good way of building on skills for the future.’
