Friday 27th August
Dad’s bought us some rubber gloves for the painting at Mum’s friend’s cottage, they’re very tight and we’ve got a bag each of them… you only use them once.
Think he’s secretly glad he’s not coming – hates decorating! It’ll be funny without him though…
Anyway, our gite in the Dordogne!!
It was in an old millhouse next to a river with trees round it. It was called ‘Le Bon Moulin’ which means ‘The Good Mill’. There’s still a water wheel that used to be turned by the river but it’s not working.
It had three bedrooms and a big drawing room and a games room with snooker and ping pong and even a darts board. The lady who showed us round, Madame Sabine, said “Ça, c’est pour les Anglais!” (which means “That’s for the English!”) The little hook under the ‘C’ is called a ‘cedilla’, sounds like someone on ‘X Factor’!! Makes a ‘c’ sound like an ‘s’, strange!
We… bedtime!!
