Tuesday 24th August

Just looking at the menu from ‘L’Auberge des Pompiers’ which we brought back. Dad spilt some wine on it so can still kind of smell what it was like.

A-MAY-ZING food! Also there were some real firemen there having supper too, old friends of Mr Hebrand, they’d just been to a special church service for firemen and they were in their best uniforms. Even had their huge helmets with them which were all shiny and silvery.

Durrr, Dad asked them if I could try one on. They all laughed and said “Bien sûr!” (That means “Of course!” or “Surely!”) Oh, that little hat thing on top of the u is called a ‘circumflex’, sounds like one of the teachers at Hogwarts… ‘Professor Circumflex’!)

Took some photos. Think I looked a bit silly but Dad says I looked cute. D’oh! Then one of them went out to his car and got this shiny axe they carry on special days. Looked better with that!
