DOT'S DIARIES 2010


Friday 19th March

We did planning today for our ‘History of Flight’ trip to Dunley Museum of Flight. Each had to find interesting facts about two of the planes we’re going to see there. I chose the Sopwith Camel (‘cos I liked its name) and the Vickers Viscount. We could look up on the internet and also Mrs Redman had a big picture book called ‘Historic Planes – Conquering the Skies’ which we could photocopy from.

Well Betty our school secretary did the photocopying actually ‘cos Mrs R said we’d take too long! Not fair, I know how to do it quickly!

Anyway The Sopwith Camel was:

The first British fight to have a machine gun that could fire through its propeller at the front
It shot down 1,294 German planes in World War I
It could fly at 115 miles per hour, when it was flying level and not diving I mean (which would make it go faster.)
