Hi Mum here - Dot forgot the Diary last night so she told me what to say on the way to school. It was about the Rev Nigel talking about whether religion is a good or bad thing.

What he said that interested Dot was: “Think about the chisel that a sculptor uses to make a beautiful sculpture. He takes it and hits it with a big hammer against stone to make all the beautiful shapes that you see when he’s finished. Like this statue from Italy.” Then he showed a picture of a sculpture called the ‘Pieta’ which shows Mary the mother of Jesus holding him after he’s died. Then the Rev said: “Well that chisel and hammer can be used to destroy things too. So religion is like that. If it’s used well, it can be a great force for good. But if it’s used badly, it can do real harm.”
