Got the DVD today of me being a newsreader at John’s studio near Wymondham in Norwich, Mum and Dad’s friends who we stayed with at half-term. It’s quite good!!

Starts with this “graphic” thing saying ‘Wymondham World Tonight!” and the camera kind of swoops in and the lights go on and it’s me!! Then the da-dee-da music stops and I read the news out from something called autocue, which is this kind of scrolling page in front of the camera. Works through a special “see-through” mirror that reflects the words from a box underneath. Neatorama!

Only stumbled twice, when I was reading about a place called ‘Burkina Fasso’ and then when I was doing a sports report with a footballer Zbigniew Kratowski (you say Zur-big-nee-eff Krar-toff-ski.) I’d practised it too!

Then at the end the camera swoops back and the studio goes dark and I’m doing the shuffling papers thing.

Wonder what Genie will think… she’d better not get the giggles!!
