Sunday 28th February
Uncle Ron came with us to watch the Sabretooths today, we were at home to a team called the Moncktonian Old Boys, from a school near us called Monckton Hall. It’s been there for AGES, started in the reign of King Henry VIII when it was for “Twelve good boyes of faithful and honest parents, that they may be instructed in goode livinge and learn dutifully their Scripture and Latinne.”
Spelling wasn’t very good in those days! That was on a little brochure the Moncktonians handed out ‘cos they’re collecting for Water Aid in India so a village called Bisnapura can have good water and proper loos. We give already to Water Aid but Mum and Uncle Ron gave £5 and I gave £1. Was only going to spend it on sweets anyway.
Uncle Ron was really LOUD, didn’t know he was like that. “COME – ON – SABRE-TOOTHS!”, had to put my hands over my ears! Anyway it was a draw, 3-3.
