Furry... pointy ears... riding a micro-scooter... could this be the Grimble who'd made so much trouble for Sid and Elinor?
Finding out wasn't going to be easy though!
With a strange cry - something like the angry miaow of a fighting cat and the growl of dog protecting his owners, at the same time - the creature tried to make a break for it. But Sid the Shopper was too quick, zooming off to stop him with his locking chain rattling away and his wheels squeaking.
"Hang on everyone!" he shouted, as he dashed from side to side with Dot and her friends tumbling over each other inside his basket. He just WASN'T going to let the Grimble escape!
Finally the creature gave up, panting, and hovered on his micro scooter, floating in cyber space. Dot thought it was time to talk.
"Who are you?" she called out. The only reply was that angry growl-miaow again. "What are you doing here?" The creature tried to get away again, but Sid was too quick for him.
Mr Mouse had had enough. And he had a plan. "Let's cut to the chase kids" he snapped. "I know you - you're Gregory Grumble!"
"No I'm not!" snapped the creature back, speaking for the first time in a high-pitched scratchy voice. "I'm Gregory GRIMBLE!" Then his furry little hand flew to his mouth and he let out what sounded to Dot very like the kind of word that meant her Dad had to put 20p in the swear-box.
He'd made a BIG mistake - he'd done just what Grimbles were NOT supposed to do - put a spelling RIGHT rather than making it wrong. He was beaten, just like the Honourable H.D. Spellchecker had said he would be - if they could only catch him out like that... And one Canadian rident - grrr, sorry, RODENT (I've not beaten the Grimbles yet, as you can see!!) was well pleased.
"Gotcha!" said Mr Mouse triumphantly. "Now you gotta help us - no way out! Now - it's payback time, and no messin'!"
Dot put her hand in front of her mouth and whispered to Wizzie: "The name's Mouse. James Mouse! Licensed to tell everyone off!" Wizzie let out a splutter of laughter and ducked down inside Sid the Shopper's trolley basket as Mr Mouse turned round with a cross look.
But he really had scored. All at once the fight went out of the little Grimble. To Dot he suddenly looked like her friend Slam at school when he'd been caught doing his mad laugh outside the staff room in the teachers' coffee break! Just like a balloon when you stick a pin in it.
"Ooohh..." the Grimble sighed in his scratchy little voice. "Oh well. Three wishes then."
And Dot and the crew knew just what they had to be!
