Chapter 11 - Grimble time!

In their hunt for the word-jumbling Grimbles, Dot and the crew had got help from the Honourable H.D. Spellchecker - whose Spellchecker penguin army puts right the mistakes the Grimbles make us make when we type on a compoter. Computer! Thanks guys!

Diving into a cyber-pool at Wordspring Hall, they'd set off to track back Sid the Shopper's jumbled-up order - and catch up with the Grimble who'd mischievously messed him up.

Moments after diving in, they found themselves in what seemed like a huge cavern - with the little silvery fish shapes of the mis-spelt words flickering past them upside down, heading towards Wordspring Hall to be corrected. The quiet pool they'd dived into was soon going to get busy again.

Suddenly Wizzie stiffened and gave his special warning bark, pointing ahead. Something strange was going on in the far distance. Instead of dashing straight along for Wordspring Hall - so they could be spellchecked and come back as the right word - a shoal of little silvery shapes was twisting and twirling around, like a whirlwind made of little fishes.

Something very strange was happening... and as they flew in closer they began to see just what it was. Dot gasped as she saw what was going on.

In the middle of the fish was an extraordinary figure - a hairy little creature like an elf, on a tiny red and black micro-scooter! He was flying the scooter like an aeroplane, twisting and turning round and round, cackling and whooping with laughter as the silvery fish dashed back and forth, confused and scared and desperate to get away from him.

The little creature was having so much fun that he didn't see Sid till the trolley was almost on top of him. And when he did, it was too late for him to get away from Dot and her friends!

That didn't stop him trying - and as the fishes zoomed away from him, released from the spell he'd woven on them with his micro-scooter aerobatics, the four friends could see him clearly at last.

He was quite a sight! He was smaller than Wizzie, but very furry - a pair of big round blue eyes under a bushy forehead, with two pointy ears standing up and bristling with rage at having his game interrupted. He wore a tight red T-shirt with 'Gregory Roles!' written on it in big gold letters and a pair of baggy trousers.

On his feet were scruffy trainers, which flickered with orange lights as he stamped his feet angrily on the micro-scooter. But there was no escape - Sid had cut the fiery little creature off, so he was trapped in a corner of the cyber-tunnel.

But whoever - or whatever - he was, he wasn't going to give up without a fight!
