Mr Mouse had fallen through into the cage
where Adrienne the red squirrel had trapped Baron Blackshanks – changing
the wicked inverter from a crow into a (black) canary as she did so. But
the Baron had fought back - and as the Canadian rodent fell, he’d used
his evil Information Inverter powers to turn Mr Mouse into a sunflower
seed – which he was now holding tightly in his beak!! It had all happened so fast… one moment Mr
Mouse was dancing on top of the cage, next he’d fallen through the bars
(with a very loud, very scared squeak) – then there’d been a flash as
Blackshanks pecked at him – and before their eyes the sassy little mouse
had turned into a bird snack!! “Zut!” went the little French searcher, shaking
her head and looking cross and worried at the same time. “Now what
are we to do?” Blackshanks the Baron chuckled wickedly. “Got
your chum too, now!” he sneered out of the side of his mouth. “Time to
do a deal Frenchy!” Dot rushed up to the bars of the cage and
looked in. First of all Wizzie – turned totally inside out and back to
front, so that he even went “Krab Krab!!” instead of “Bark bark!” when
he had something urgent to say. Now Mr Mouse – only this was worse. Much
worse! Any moment now Blackshanks might swallow the sunflower seed,
and then… ! She looked round in a panic at Adrienne, who
was standing by her shiny red search engine with her paw under her chin,
looking very puzzled indeed. “How… what… how ON EARTH did he do
that?” she asked. Adrienne shrugged her elegant little shoulders.
Very French! “Oh it ‘appens” she said. “Some of zese Information
Inverters, they have found ‘ow to use ze “100%” control you can see on
your toolbar, where you can make zings ver’ small or ver’ big... and because
at ze same time they can of course invert informations, turn zings
into something else, zere you are – a ver’ small Meester Mouse, who ‘as
become a sunflower seed because zat was ze nearest thing Blackshanks could
see… ze thing you are changed into by must be close by, you see.” She
pointed at a little bowl in the bottom of the cage. “Zere! You see?” Dot did see. It was full to the brim of sunflower
seeds. Blackshanks chuckled again. It was a horrible,
sneery laugh. Something inside Dot snapped., She turned
back to the cage and ran her finger suddenly along the bars so it made
a kind of ringing noise. “I think you’re HORRIBLE!” she hissed at the
Information Inverter. Oops, bad move Dot! You made him jump. And open his beak in shock. And drop the Mr Mouse sunflower seed. RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE THOUSANDS
OF OTHER SUNFLOWER SEEDS IN THE POT…! Which all look exactly the same… ********************************* |
