Chapter 11 - Goodbye Sykes - don't come back soon!
The Eden Project was saved! Thanks to the skill and bravery of Wizard - and with a little help from the world's sassiest cheese-hunter, Mr Mouse - the fantastic forest gardens under the giant domes of Eden were coming back to life.
All around the Biomes ran the Eden Project team, checking their beloved plants, which were all coming back to life as the computer climate programme re-started.
In the Eden Visitor's Centre, Sykes was nearly back to normal too. The cyber rat villain was getting cheeky!
"OK, I did my part of the deal" he snarled out through the computer screen. "Now you gotta do yours! C'mon, flop-ears!"
Wizard snapped back. "Don't try your luck Sykes! We're letting you off this time - but next time you might not be so lucky! He turned to Dot and shrugged. "But - a deal's a deal, I suppose."
With that, his feathery spaniel paws flew across the keys - and the cyber badge started to grow again. Sykes let out a hiss of triumph and lunged for it. There was another crack and he hopped back with a squeal, putting his scorched paws under his arms. "Oops, sorry" said Wizzie innocently. "Forgot to take the guard programme off."
But two more key taps and a click of the mouse and the badge was free. Sykes grabbed it. As he did so, his bike began to re-appear - and his clothes started to come back on him: one by one, the helmet, the greasy leather jacket, the gloves, the black shiny waistcoat...
"What about my trousers?"
"Oh yes" said Wiz innocently. "Sorry. Lost them on the Net somewhere. You'll just have to find them, won't you?" He growled suddenly. "On your bike Sykes!"
Muttering savagely, Sykes swung his legs in his grubby pants over his cyber bike saddle. The engine started with a roar and a whine. "I'll get you for this" he shouted, his face all twisted up "If it's the last thing I - "
Dot reached forward with a grin and triple clicked on the computer mouse. "Wooah - arrgh!!" shouted Sykes in shock as his bike suddenly looped the loop, nearly throwing him off, and zoomed off into cyber space. The cyber rat's panic-stricken yells faded away as he disappeared into the cyber-galaxies of the Internet.
Wizzie turned to Dot in total amazement. "Where did you learn to do that?" he asked. Dot gave him a cheeky smile and hitched her glasses up on her nose. "I'm not just a pretty face you know!" she laughed.
They heard a tapping behind them. Mr Mouse was standing there with his paws on his hips, looking as sassy as ever. "If you two clever clogs have finished" he said "You may remember we have a leafy little friend who needs some help!"
"Evie Eden!" gasped Dot. "She might be dying! We've got to get to her - quick!"
