How Dot, Wizzie and Mr Mouse saved the Eden Project - with the help of
their friend Evie Eden!

Dot, Wizard and Mr Mouse were in a strange office in a strange place - and now something even stranger was happening. Somebody or something was making a very funny noise... somewhere.

"Diddleypick!"

Wizard barked and dashed across the room, his floppy ears flying behind him, and jumped up onto the computer keyboard. The screen froze.

But there in the middle of it was one of the strangest creatures the three friends had seen in all their travels.

The little creature had a body made out of a long, elegant oval leaf... big feet like the shoes you see on clowns at the circus... and a round face with a little nose and two startled eyes and big friendly mouth. Just at that moment, it was frozen open in a big 'O' of surprise!

"Got him!" said Wizzie triumphantly. Dot and Mr Mouse joined him at the computer. Mr Mouse cocked his head on one side. "Looks kinda harmless" he said. "Let's unlock him."

Wizard looked at Dot. "OK" she said "Let's see what he's got to say." She tapped the 'Esc' button, the screen jumped, and the little creature gave a hop and a shake and shook itself. Then it cocked its head on one side, and...

"Diddleypick!" it said. Then it gave a big grin and stood there in the middle of the screen, tapping one of its big clown's feet up and down. Mr Mouse sighed in an exasperated way. "This kid might be able to help and all he says is "Diddleypick!" he huffed. "What are we gonna do now?"

"I know" said Dot. "I wonder if...." She took the mouse by the computer and clicked on the 'Help' icon at the top of the screen, clicked again on the word 'Index' in the drop-down window that appeared, and then typed in... 'Diddleypick'.

The 'Help' box on the left-hand side of the screen flashed up. Problem solved! "When you hear the word 'Diddleypick' at the Eden Project" the window read "Tap F7, F9 and F11 - in that order."

Dot tapped, one two three - and to the three friends' amazement, the little creature on the screen gave another shake, and jumped right out of screen onto the desk in front of them!

"Well!" it said in a musical little voice that sounded just like the recorder Dot used for music class at her school. "Hallo and diddleypick to you too! And it's SHE if you don't mind - Evie Eden's my name. Now the thing is - can you help us?"

"We don't... we don't even know where we are" said Dot, still recovering from the shock of talking to a ten-centimetre high leaf creature.

"Ah!" said Evie. "Well you're in for a treat - if we can get out of the fix we're in. First things first though - you're actually at The Eden Project, in Cornwall. Those domes there" she tossed her head towards the window "are called BIOMES. They're domes filled with plants from all over the world - so people can come and see how important we are to everyone and everything on the earth." She grinned and did a little curtsey. Then she went on.

"My boss Tim Smit and the team at the Eden Project built them here in this old quarry so that everyone can understand what a beautiful world we've got - but also that it's fragile, and that we could destroy it and ourselves if we don't stop messing it up!"

"Anyway" Evie went on "I know who you are - I caught your data packet when you arrived. You're the Dot Com crew aren't you - the Internet adventurers? Well, I've got a job for you! Because somebody - or something - is messing up the computers that run the Biomes."

She stopped. She wasn't grinning now.

"And if they aren't fixed very soon, it'll kill all of us - every plant in Eden!"
