So - the TricTrucTrackers are the ones to help find Mr Mouse... but not even Samson can make them come to the rescue. You just have to wait...but wait in a special way... without thinking about ANYTHING!
Have you ever tried thinking about nothing? I mean, really making just a blank space where all your thoughts usually are? It's not easy, I can tell you!
You just try for a moment. I'll try too.
OK... here we go... I'll just put what I'm thinking, and NOT thinking, between
quotation marks, so you can see how well I'm doing.
Or, how well I'm NOT doing!
OK.
“............................................................................................................................. ”
Wonder what's for supper tonight...?
GRRRRR! Try again! That didn't last long!
“............................................................................................................................. ”
Must get some more printer paper...
DOUBLE/i>< GRRRRR! Can't do it. Bet you did better than me!
It's funny, because when you get ticked off for daydreaming in class and your teacher sometimes says “You just haven't got a thought in your head!”, it shows how wrong even a teacher can be sometimes! There's always something going on up there.
Makes me feel quite tired even thinking about it!
And that was what Dot had to try, to get the TricTrucTrackers to come and help. But what else could she do?
“I know!” said Fromage excitedly, snapping his fingers. “Let us ALL try! Zat way, if more of us do it, we 'ave a better chance to bring zese... what do you say... DricDrucDraggers.”
“Can't help you myself, I'm afraid” rumbled Samson. “A Server must think at all times - or all sorts of connections could be lost.”
“Come on Dot” said Wizzy, smiling up at his friend. “We can do it! I'm just going to start by thinking about my food bowl when it's empty, and take it from there.”
“All right!” said Dot, though she still didn't have a clue how she was going to empty her mind of every thought. “But don't let's look at each other. Let's turn our backs and close our eyes and just... just go for it! On a count of three!”
So, they all turned round, away from each other. It seemed unfriendly but it had to be!
“All right!” said Dot. “Everyone ready? Take a deep breath... here we go... one... two... THREE...”
And off they went!
But buzz buzz buzz went Dot's thoughts, behind her closed eyes. What if they never found Mr Mouse? Why did Dad have to be such a silly? Could she have just asked Dad to tell Zapotek to go and get Mr Mouse back? (No - that would have meant either explaining why Mr M was so important - impossible 'cos then she would have had to have talked about net-voyaging... or made up some lie, and lying was wrong and she hated doing it!)
Buzz buzz buzz. This just wasn't working. No way!
“Schnrrrrgggh - zeowffff.... schnrrrrgggh - zeowffff.... ”
Well at least one of them was chilled out - that was Fromage, snoring!
Dot peeped out of the corner of her eye. No doubt about it - Mr Mouse's cousin was fast asleep! Giggle!
No - wait! That might work! Just as long as he didn't dream, because then he’d be having thoughts. It might - it just might!
It DID!
She heard them first. It was a kind of rustling - like when a rabbit runs through the woods, or a blackbird flutters out of a bush in the garden. Then - silence. Then - more rustling. Then - the voices! Squeaky and high-pitched, and kind of cross!
“It's this way!”
“No it isn't!”
“Well, I heard them first and I say it is!”
“Well I think you're BOTH wrong! We should have turned right at that router!”
“We couldn't, you numpty! Call yourself a TricTrucTracker? You might as well be a Twitter!”
“How DARE you say that! You take that back! I'll - ”
But Dot wasn't listening any more! The snoring Fromage had done it! The
TricTrucTrackers had come!
